The purpose of surgery center trainers program is to equip one or more of your surgery center team members with the skills and processes that you need to get you through an inspection. Your surgery center team member or members will have a training session designed on the specific areas of your facility in order to prepare you for an inspection. The session will cover the following:

Governing Body

The team member will have an understanding of the role they will play in reporting to the Governing Body. The team member will understand what needs to be reported to the Governing Body and know their accountability to the Governing Body. The team member will also learn how to assist in providing documentation to the Governing Body pertaining to the center’s Quality Improvement Program and Assessments. You will also learn how to aide in ensuring that policies are administered and understand your role in providing quality healthcare in a safe environment.

Surgical Services

Surgical services must be performed in a safe manner and the team member will have an understanding of the role they will play in maintaining the necessary logs specific to the facility and how to use any areas of non-compliance to open a data driven Quality Improvement Study.

Quality Improvement

The team member will have an understanding on how to maintain an ongoing data driven Quality Improvement Program and will learn how to focus on high risk, high volume and problem prone areas. Emphasis will be placed on what indicators you need to track and how to track them on a quarterly basis.

Physical Environment/Environment of Care

The team member will have an understanding of maintaining a physical environment that is safe for staff and patients. This will include a walk-through and mock audit of the facility to ensure compliance with life and safety codes. Deficiencies and/or hazards if any will be identified. The team member will also learn how to conduct and document quarterly environment assessments. This includes equipment and utilities systems.

Staffing

The team member will have an understanding how to ensure that the center is properly staffed with the appropriate number of licensed healthcare providers and learn how to perform mandatory annual competencies and/or skill assessment reviews on all clinical and ancillary staff members i.e. receptionists, medical assistants and secretaries. The team member will also receive an overview of the documents needed in the HR file to maintain compliance.

Infection Control

The team member will have an understanding of the Infection Control Program and the aspects of meeting nationally recognized guidelines such as CDC and how to incorporate mandatory surveillance activities and incorporate the activities into the Quality Improvement Program.

Perioperative Training (Sold Separately)

Training can be provided for a newly hired RN to equip them with the understanding of the many aspects of managing patient care in the surgery center setting. The team member will be trained by a Registered Nurse with experience in surgery center and acute care settings.

Trainings are a full day (8 hours).
